• We have about 700,000 doctors in the US.
• We are spending $1.3 trillion on health care - that is MORE than the total Gross National Product in 124 out of the world's 130 industrial countries.
• What are we getting for our money? We lead the developed world in deaths from heart disease, prostate cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and diabetes.
• In 1968, we declared war on cancer. By February 1994, the JAMA declared the war on cancer a failure. In all age groups, cancer incidence is increasing. Few new, effective treatments have been devised for the most common cancers.
• In spite of the many benefits of medicine, adverse drug reactions are the # 4 cause of death in the United States.

The new growth industry for the new millenium is people seeking products and information to STAY WELL. The Wellness Industry is predicted to be a one trillion-dollar business by the year 2010. That's the equivalent of a billion people spending $1000 a year to STAY healthy.
